Description
C. REICHERT WIEN VINTAGE OPTICAL ANTIQUE BRASS MICROSCOPEThis is a great example of an early microscope and would be a fine display piece.
It weighs in at nearly 8 lbs.
The carousel turns and the eyepiece and extension tube move up-and down.
The stage tilt and lock work.
It has an articulated two-sided mirror and a condenser lens that move.
The rack-and-pinion course focusing gear also works.
I am not sure what the purpose of the knurled knob is, but it turns also (In researching this item, I noticed that most do not have the cylinder with the knurled knob made out of brass).
I can see some light through the eyepiece on one of the carousel lenses and they have some dirt and hairs visible.
The brass is pitted/worn here and there, and it is missing the specimen slide holders.
The carousel has a “Reichert #3”, “Reichert #7a”, and a “Spencer Buffalo USA – HOMOG. IMMER 18mm N.A. 1.30 – 95X”
The eyepiece is a “Ernst Leitz Wetzlar 10X”.
