One 400 Ft. Roll of Landline Stranded Copper Electrical High Quality Cable - Military  -
Four conductor (Four strands (shielded with a metal jacket). Originally intended for military mostly for communication.  Over the top of the ground. Heavy thick rubber outer cover but very flexible. I buried an 80 ft. Length and used it for electrical lighting and plugging into it auto-truck tank heaters, batter chargers and other electrical wattage 110v limits. It shows no indication of age and must’ve been coated with the highest quality of rubber that there could ever have been. It had been in the possession of Bob P.  who ran the Turtle Lake, Wisconsin Telephone Company. Bob was involved with at least one government agency such as Rural Electric. Maybe someone still is around who knows how and when Bob acquired this wire; otherwise there are not many clues. Even though this was probably meant mostly for communication over distances laying out onto the ground I have seen it used to power 110 volts of electricity mostly by joining the four pairs together to create 2 pairs. That which I used has a tough metal shield to protect from animals or/and insects. This roll or per roll probably weighs about 200 lbs. Even though I’m 85, I can still lift 100 lbs. I wouldn’t attempt to lift this but I can tilt it and of course roll it. I think that there is one or are perhaps two rolls that have very small lengths on some concrete in my back yard. I imagine the empty steel spool weighs around 30 lbs. On the end of the cable showing is a connector like a plug socket thing. It has both prongs plus holes for joining ??? leaning towards speculation that rolls / lengths can be joined to cover even miles of communication or transfer of electrical signal. I suppose arrangements could be made to cut off an end to inspect the characteristics and or roll it completely out to fetch an accurate length as/since the 400’ is an estimate based on a laid out roll I did 12 or 15 years ago. To my knowledge and observations, it has always been shed-ed. In 1989 or 1990, PAC Tel sold out. In 1991, I paid ,000 for 13 semi loads from PAC Tel. I had been buying antique telephones from Bob since 1972. But had never paid any attention to this wire/cable. But it was amidst the sheds full I bought. I loaded it into an old storage trailer in Nov. Of 1991 and trucked it home where it has sat in the same trailer since.
We counted 76 rolls of this cable.  We noticed some labels on the spools, but no noticeable writing on the jacket of the cable. There are some details on various labels on the spools, such as:
