    Description

    Original vintage photograph.
    It measures approximately
    3 1/2 x 4 1/2
Inches. This photograph is of a politruk Mikhail Semenovich Potryasov, he became a major towards the end of WWII. He was born on June 4, 1908 in the city of Belinsk. During WWII he was a politruk in the 170th, 181st, 11th Tank Brigades. You can see his glorious battle path on screenshot 2. During the war he was awarded a few orders and medals (see screenshot 3), among them were medals for "Capture Of Budapest" and "Capture Of Vienna". During the operation to capture Budapest he received the order of the Great Patriotic War 2nd Class for: During the battle in the region of Bichki, and during the battle to liquidate the enemy group that broke through to the river Danube major Potryasov showed himself as a brave and courageous officer. During the battles, major Potryasov was in the battle formations where he organized political party work among the battalion staff, with this work he helped the battalion commander complete his combat orders. The tank battalion where major Potryasov was deputy commander of the political department, during the battles to surround the Budapest group of the enemy, destroyed 31 enemy tanks, 95 cannons, captured 5 military warehouses, and destroyed up to 1000 enemy soldiers and officers. (see screenshots 4 and 5).
Interesting fact: During WWII German soldiers were ordered not to take any political commissars as prisoners by the German high command, and execute them on the spot because they were considered enforcers of "Judeo-Bolshevism" ideology in the military forces.
